Passionately Deranged

15% of American’s now consider themselves agnostic or atheist.

Check out this recent article/video on ABC's website. It is an interesting look at how passionate atheists can be to be shown as completely "unreligious". These atheists, lead by Edwin Kagin, are being “de-baptized” by a hair dryer they labeled “Reason and Truth”.

After you watch, give me your feedback…what “reason” or “truth” do you think they really have?

In our Christian society today, many want to fight people like this and PROVE somehow that what they are doing is offensive, wrong, or that it must be stopped. My perspective is that this is a waste of time. The scriptures give us ample evidence that these things will and even should happen from those not of the faith. Remember, these people are lost, wicked, and broken. We are not to judge them as we would the church, but are to love them and pray for them.

Don’t get me wrong. What they are doing is sad. It is misled, and even deranged. They are spiritually insane and have been “given over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not befitting” (Romans 1:28). But what we need to realize is that they are deceived. They are being lied to and you can see it in the things they say, even by Kagin himself. He is contradictory and inflammatory. He is angry and fighting a fight that he does not understand and has no “truth” to fight. So his only defense is to be irrational and irritated at anyone who proclaims there is a God.

So do we fight people like this and show ourselves to be offended by their statements? Or do we realize that they are deceived and needing our prayers and love? The Spirit convicts those He chooses. Our job is to speak truth, in love, and pray for those that are lost.

I would love to see this type of passion from the Christian church today. Many of us don’t have the fight in us we can see in Kagin and his followers. Don’t be fooled. They are religious. They are spiritual. They believe in a God just like Christians, Muslims, or Mormons. In their humanistic worldview though, they fool themselves into believing that they don’t. It is sad.

Enjoy…
